Avoid the Candy and Get Moving

Trick or Treat - Move Your Feet

It's time for Fall Challenges! And I've been getting requests for challenges to get up and move AND to avoid the Halloween Candy!  So - Here you go!  Starting October 15th, we will Move Our Feet until Planksgiving!

The days are broken into White, Yellow or Orange Workout Days.

White:  We Do Squats and Walk/Run
Yellow:  We Do Push Ups and Walk/Run
Orange:  We do Crunches and Walk/Run

Most challenges are written by Fitness Gurus whose job is working out every day.  So, many of the challenges can be super intense and people fall off because of difficulty.   This Challenge is DIFFERENT.  You set your goals.

1st you must Walk/Run every single day.  So, set your goal to be realistic.  Something that you know you can do every day.

2nd, set your goal for Squats, Push UPs and Crunches that CHALLENGE you.  You don't have to do these every day, so pick a number that will stretch your abilities.

3rd, to avoid candy, we have a Bonus exercise, repeated 10 times, that you pick.  Pick something that you hate.

My Goals:

Run/Walk 2 Miles Every Day:   Even if it is raining, I can suffer 2 miles on the elliptical.

Squats:  100 Squats

Push Ups:  30 Push Ups.

Crunches:  100 Crunches.

Bonus:  10 Burpees for every piece of candy I eat.  I HATE Burpees, so I will not be eating any candy.

That's it !  Pretty Simple!

Download your Goal Sheet ==>  October Goal Sheet

As Always - let me know what you are doing, and follow me on Facebook and Instagram for my daily results!

Star Wars Kessel Run Challenge Medal

I love my Inaugural Kessel Run Challenge Medal!
It is truly unique now that the Disneyland runDisney weekends are on indefinite hold. So, it seemed that we would never be able to achieve this medal again! But I was excited this week when runDisney announced that it will still be available – with a twist!

You have the chance to bring home 2 new Star Wars Medals! And I want to make sure everyone knows the best way to approach achieving these new medals – and here's how.

Hydration, Hydration, Hydration!

Hydration is Very important! If you remember from my recent review of the Disneyland Half Weekend, we had very very hot weather with heat indexes in the 100s! A Disney Security Guard told me that he was hearing on his radio that lots of people were having issues. He told me to stay hydrated. And that was really good advice!

The heat can be deceptive, especially in California where sweat just evaporates from your body.  You never want to have heat sickness!  So, here are some common hydration mistakes to avoid:

FAQ on runDisney Corrals

Corrals are a big topic for any race – especially for a runDisney race.  It’s really hard to find information on corrals online, and the first time you are faced with corral assignment it can be overwhelming.   With over 50% of the participants, for a big race such as Princess, being new to runDisney, it’s an important topic to cover!
Here is my list of Frequently Asked Questions to help!

Q. What is a corral?
A corral is a group of runners that are classified by their estimated finish time.  For runDisney, the corrals are divided by letters:  A, B, C, etc.

5 Things to Think About When Starting a Fitness Program

I am Extremely busy, and I know y'all are, too!  I hear from many of my friends that it's just hard to fit health needs in with everything else going on; and with all the different DVDs, classes, and plans available, it's confusing!  The toughest part with all these programs is that many times you start and stop before you can realize the promised results.    More than likely, you are just doing something "popular" instead of thinking what is best for you, your schedule, your family and your lifestyle.

So, before you start your next program, think about these 5 things first:

4 Ways to Take Care of You!

Sometimes we feel guilty about getting our work outs in:  you work late, dinner needs to be cooked, laundry needs to be done, and you want valuable family time, too.  We rationalize that taking time for us, takes away time from our family and all those things that "need" to be done.  However, by not taking care of yourself, you are putting your health at risk, and jeopardizing your ability, long term, to have the energy you need to keep up with a busy family.

5 Easy Ways to Jump Start Your Fitness Program

We all have to start again at some point:  If we are honest with ourselves, none of us go non-stop into fitness.  There are always times when we need to take a break; we just don't need too long a break because the rhythm of being fit is harder to find again.

Sleep You Must!

May is Better Sleep Month:  How are You Sleeping?

I hear over and over from many of my friends how they are not sleeping well:  it seems to be an epidemic in our Country!  Its affects are felt throughout the day from beginning to end, and can lead to depression, aging and weight gain.  Yikes!  However, my friends at Casper asked me to share some of their tips to alleviate common sleep problems and put us on a path to being healthier! Turns out there's a lot more to it than their new layered latex mattress!

5 Great Features of the Camden Gear Hydration Pack

I'm shopping for a new running belt because my iPhone6S doesn't fit in my old running gear.  I am also one of those runners who has to carry everything!  So, on my quest to find the perfect running belt, I recently tried the Camden Gear Hydration Pack, and here is what I thought!

1.  Adjustable Belt
This is a one size fits most adjustable belt using Velcro.  The product guide shows for waists up to 47 inches.  The Velco strap also gives you the flexibility to make the belt fit tight.

OZ Fit Running Belt Review

review kessel runner

Back in December, I was looking for a new running belt to take with me to the Star Wars Half Marathon in Disneyland.  My new iPhone6S wouldn't fit in my old one; therefore, it was time to give up my favorite belt and look for a 'new favorite!'

I started looking by simply doing a search on Amazon.  I found that the OZ Fit Running belt would fit my iPhone, and it seemed like it would hold everything; so, I bought it!  It turned out to be a great purchase, and I really enjoyed wearing it!

And here are 4 feature that were important to me:
Zumba Belt Review

Side 1
1.  Key Holder
A very handy Key Hook!  When you are training, you need a place to hold your key.  I usually tie it onto my pants or shorts string, but this works out so much better!  The key holder slips comfortably inside the belt for security.

2. Two Pockets
Side 1 has two pockets on either end.  The pockets share connecting space, but allow you to store one thing on one side, and something else on the other.  I used it to store goo and almond butter.  I was able to hold 3 almond butter packets and 2 goos during the Half Marathon.

Side 2
3.  Zippered Pouch
The pouch on Side 2 is zippered for added security.  The larger smart phones and other extras you need can reside on this side.  I have an iPhone6S and there was plenty of room for my phone, granola bars, identification and credit cards.

4. Stay Dry, Giving Fabric
The moisture wicking fabric is comfortable, resists sweat, and fits comfortably against your body.

I sweat a lot, even on a cool running day such as the Star Wars Half Marathon; everything inside the OzFit stayed nice and dry.   The belt stayed in place, too, I had very little adjusting to do during my race.  Even when it was packed full at the start of the race, it still laid relatively flat against my body.

Who is the Belt For?

The belt comes in 5 sizes XS, S, Med, L, XL, from a 27" to a 38", and is intended to be worn just below the belly button.

It fits comfortable on top of your pants at the waist band, or over your outer clothing.  It easily moves around so that you can reach both sides, even while you are moving.  It could easily be worn at Zumba or as a money/passport holder while traveling.

Zumba Belt Review

The belt is 4 inches wide and will stretch to 5 1/2 inches:  so, very accommodating for the larger smart phones.

It held everything I needed for the race with room to spare!  And I carry everything!  If you are looking for a lightweight, versatile belt, this one will be perfect.

It's a bargain, too, at only $16.95!

Who is the Belt Not For?

Sorry Fashionistas!  There is only a choice of black or pink.

If you need to carry hydration bottles, there isn't a way to attach them.

And I suggest to upsize if you want to wear it lower on the hips:  it's flexible, but not too stretchy.

---
I really enjoyed wearing this belt during the Half Marathon Weekend, and I will continue to enjoy it as I train and travel this summer.

If you have any questions or have tried it yourself - please let me know!

Champion C9 Sports Bra Review

A Sports Bra is a much needed accessory!  And I was lucky to receive the Champion C9 Sports Bra for review from Influenster and Target!  I gave it a good, sweaty workout and wash and here is what I thought!
Target Influenster

Pros:
I chose the C9 Power Shape sports bra in White since I looking for a sports bra to wear with white tops.  There were many colors to choose from so it would be easy to find a color to fit your style.  Added Bonuses were the adjustable clasp in back to get a snug fit across your ribs or to choose a looser fit if you prefer.  The cups had neat petals to prevent show through which is super important when wearing white!  The fabric was soft and comfortable and kept me dry.  It even washed up well without losing it's shape.  This sports bra packs all the benefits of a more pricey version, so it's great for fitness fanatics on a budget!

Cons:
My only complaint was the piping under the arm wasn't as movable as the rest of the bra, but it seemed to loosen up after washing.

Overall a great Sports Bra at an Affordable Price that you will enjoy wearing as much I do!
