Sleep You Must!

May is Better Sleep Month:  How are You Sleeping?


I hear over and over from many of my friends how they are not sleeping well:  it seems to be an epidemic in our Country!  Its affects are felt throughout the day from beginning to end, and can lead to depression, aging and weight gain.  Yikes!  However, my friends at Casper asked me to share some of their tips to alleviate common sleep problems and put us on a path to being healthier! Turns out there's a lot more to it than their new layered latex mattress!

Each of these cards addresses a top category for reasons we don't sleep:  busy mind, hunger, Sunday night insomnia, uncomfortable, noise, not tired, temperature isn't right, anxiety about the future.   And each card identifies a way to work toward a better night's sleep.

Although there could be different reasons why I don't sleep, I think a big reason is: I'm just not tired.  I might be yawning, but when I hit the bed, I'm wide awake!   So, I picked the "Not Tired" card and will focus on reading a book at bedtime for the rest of the month.  I will also turn my FitBit on while I sleep so that it can record how I am sleeping.  I will check back the first week of June and let you know how it's been going!

I've decided to make this a mission this summer:  each month focus on a different area, such as light, noise, diet, etc., and see what makes the most difference in my sleep patterns.  It's all about a healthier me and a healthier you!  So, if you are weary from lack of sleep, then join me!
