5 Things to Think About When Starting a Fitness Program

I am Extremely busy, and I know y'all are, too!  I hear from many of my friends that it's just hard to fit health needs in with everything else going on; and with all the different DVDs, classes, and plans available, it's confusing!  The toughest part with all these programs is that many times you start and stop before you can realize the promised results.    More than likely, you are just doing something "popular" instead of thinking what is best for you, your schedule, your family and your lifestyle.

So, before you start your next program, think about these 5 things first:

Are You Using the 4 Ps of Gardening?

Life Lessons and Getting Fit From The Garden

The Garden is a great place to explore life and get fit!  My Grandmother gave me her love of gardening as a little girl,  and over the years I have found that there are 4 P's that relate to life and fitness from a simple garden!

The Fitness Games App - A Review

As a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I was asked to try out the smart phone app, The Fitness Games (TFG).

This premiere fitness app not only combines fitness but also includes motivation, competition and social media to create an awesome work out tool at your fingertips!

The concept is simple...
Choose your category, Select your workout, Set your goal:

Next Pick your challenge:  The unique feature of this app is it allows you to connect to people from all over the world or right next door.  You can send friend requests, reach out, challenge and interact with people you know and don't know!

Then Go!
And you are off on your workout!

What Worked
-The App was easy to use and I was even able to create one for running the Lincoln Memorial while in Washington, DC!
-You are given a wide range of choices from things to do in the gym, without a gym, outdoors and indoors.  There is a challenge that anyone can adapt to their situation.

-The pre-defined workouts were intermediate level, very aggressive and were great for me to use while traveling; they even had pictures of how to do the workouts if you were unsure.  My favorite exercises these past 2 weeks were the Cross Training, Bodyweight Madness series.   Tough Workouts!

What Didn't Work
-Even though we had planned to participate together in the challenges, I didn't receive any notification that the challenge I initiated was received or completed.  I am not sure if this was a glitch or step that I did incorrectly.  However, I do see the potential of how motivating, encouraging, and loads of fun interacting with your friends could be!

I really enjoyed being apart of the TFG App Challenge!  I think that it was great for me to have quality, planned workouts available while I was on travel:  I stayed motivated and kept up with my fitness goals which is always difficult when you are away from your support system at home.

I would definitely encourage you to download TFG app (Apple or Android) and experience it for yourself!  When you do, please challenge me, glistenrun, and let's get moving!
