5 Best Events Disney Has to Offer All in One Weekend!

Everyone is trying to squeeze the most out of their time with their family; and I have found a way to create a fantastic family holiday vacation by enjoying one weekend in November!

By planning your trip for November 5 - 10th, you will be able to combine Great Food, Entertainment, runDisney, Parties, Christmas, Lights and Wonder with your family; and here are the 5 fabulous things going on!

1. International Food and Wine Festival
Start your weekend early, on Thursday or Friday, by tantalizing your taste buds as you make your way around the World  Showcase at Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival!  This premiere culinary event will host food from six continents, provide festive music and dancers, serve hundreds of national and international wines, present fabulous food seminars, and deliver thousands of desserts!  Incredible great food, drink and entertainment to start your vacation!

Tip:  This festival is free along with regular park admission to Epcot; however, special festival events will require a separate ticket and food tastings are not on the Dining Plan.

2.  Wine and Dine Half Marathon
Often overlooked by classic Disney park fans is the runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend.  Most feel that it is just for runners, but is it so much more than that because it's a Disney Race and that means a Disney Party for the whole family!

Start the weekend off with Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K Saturday, November 7th, at 7am.  This 3 mile trek through the Animal Kingdom is excellent for the whole family to walk or run and to enjoy Mickey and Friends throughout the park!  You will be delighted by the exotic animals that will be out early in the morning and thrilled by the Disney characters awaiting pictures and autographs!

Next bring all the kiddos to the Kid's Races starting at 10am!  runDisney has every age covered from the Diaper Dash to the 1 mile run!
  • 12 months and under - Diaper Dash for crawlers
  • 1-3 years old - 100m dash
  • 4-6 years old - 200m dash
  • 7-8 years old - 400m dash
  • One Mile Run - Open to all children 13 years old & under
All participants will receive a t-shirt and finishers medal showcasing their accomplishment!  What a great way to encourage your children to be fit!

Of course, for the Half Marathon enthusiasts, the most amazing night-time race awaits you!  This race starts at 10pm and takes you through a breathtaking night-lit tour of the Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot!  See the Tree of Life and The Streets of America in a whole new way and end your journey as you pass by the Golf Ball.   A wonderful runner's night out!

Tip:  Registration for this runDisney event is open on March 17, 11 AM CT on a first come, first serve basis only.

3.  Wine and Dine After Party
The Finish Line Party, available free to Half Marathon Runners and everyone else for a fee, is an extraordinary celebration in Epcot from 10 pm Saturday night until 4 am Sunday morning!  This  party gives you exclusive access to 25 International Food & Wine Festival kiosks, Epcot attractions, Character Meet & Greets, musical performances and a live DJ!  Probably the most unique and exciting Disney night-time party!

Tip:  This party is a part of the runDisney Wine and Dine Weekend and must be purchased through their registration process.

4. Osborne's Christmas Lights
This wonderful holiday tradition and extravaganza transforms Disney's Hollywood Studios into a magical world with millions of dancing Christmas lights!  You will be able to see this spectacular light show starting November 7th; perfect timing for this family weekend!

Every hour, the streets of America come alive with Christmas music and magical dancing lights in perfect synchronization with our favorite tunes!   While everyone is entranced in the of magic of the technicolor display, the unthinkable happens in Florida... it beings to "snow"!  This presents eye-catching, dazzling fun for the whole family and will have you oohing and aahing, too!

Tip:  The Osborne's Christmas Lights are free but require regular park admission to Hollywood Studios.

5. Very Merry Christmas Party
And we can't forget about Mickey Mouse and his after-hours Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom!  This year you will be able to extend your Wine and Dine weekend to either Sunday November 8th or Tuesday November 10th to enjoy a special Christmas parade, holiday-themed entertainment, dance parties, marching toy soldiers, Disney character appearances,  meet-and-greets, and an appearance by Santa Claus!  This evening becomes a breathtaking, sensational holiday experience you will never forget!

Tip:  Separate tickets are required for this event and usually are available starting in April.

It is amazing what you can do in just a few short days!   All of these exclusive celebrations can reach every generation of your family in a unique and extraordinary way during this holiday season!

Tip:  Enjoying this detailed level of a vacation requires a lot of coordination and planning starting with meeting the runDisney registration deadlines on March 17th.  Coordinating family vacations is my specialty and I will make sure that your family doesn't miss one moment of this rare Disney weekend!
